Mediality
This strand is concerned with the various medial forms in which diverse phenomena, both linguistic and otherwise, were created, distributed and reworked in the premodern North. This strand is thematically and methodologically closely allied to strand I as well as to strands III and IV. Here, though, discussion will focus on how the individual media (archaeological sites, material objects, textual sources, images, and so on) are related and how they supplement, replace, compete with, etc. one another. Both theoretically- and analytically-oriented contributions are also welcome in this session.
